Automated Decision-Making
Automated decision-making is the use of technology to make decisions about people without meaningful human involvement.
What is Automated Decision-Making?
Under the GDPR, people have the right not to be subject to solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, subject to exceptions and safeguards. The UK relaxed these rules in the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 while keeping safeguards.
How it works
Safeguards include informing people, enabling human review and allowing them to contest decisions.
