Chatbot
A chatbot is a software application that holds a conversation with people in text or voice, ranging from simple scripted bots to assistants powered by large language models.
What is Chatbot?
Modern chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can handle open-ended questions. The EU AI Act requires that people be told when they are interacting with an AI system unless it is obvious, and chatbot harms to children are a growing focus of lawmakers.
How it works
The user's message is passed to a model, often with conversation history and instructions, and the model's reply is returned.
