Distribution Network (FTTH)
The distribution network is the part of a fibre access network that runs from the fibre distribution terminal out to the fibre access terminals near customers.
What is the distribution network?
Distribution fibre optic cables leave the FDT and connect, one after another, to a number of FATs along their route. The number of FATs per cable depends on the type of housing being served. In two-stage split designs, the distribution cable links the level-1 splitter in the FDT to the level-2 splitters in the FATs. Some sources use "distribution fibre" more loosely for everything between the splitter and the ONTs.
