Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO)
An MVNO is a mobile service provider that sells under its own brand but uses another operator's radio network instead of owning one.
What is Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO)?
MVNOs buy wholesale access from a host operator. "Light" MVNOs mainly resell and market; "full" MVNOs run their own core network and SIMs. Examples in the UK include giffgaff and Lyca Mobile. Mobile virtual network enablers (MVNEs) provide the technical platforms, and aggregators (MVNAs) resell host capacity to smaller MVNOs.
