MPLS Transport Profile (MPLS-TP)

MPLS-TP is a simplified version of MPLS designed for transport networks, giving packet networks the management and protection behaviour of SDH.

What is MPLS Transport Profile (MPLS-TP)?

Standardised jointly by the IETF and ITU-T, MPLS-TP removes the dependence on IP routing, uses statically or centrally provisioned paths, and adds in-band operations, administration and maintenance (OAM) with fast protection switching.
