Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP)

PDCP is the radio protocol layer that handles header compression, encryption and in-order delivery of packets.

What is Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP)?

PDCP sits above RLC in LTE and 5G. It compresses IP headers to save capacity, encrypts and integrity-protects data, and deals with duplicate and out-of-order packets during handovers. In split 5G designs it runs in the Centralised Unit.
