Route Leaks and Route Security
A route leak is when a network wrongly announces routes it should not, diverting traffic; route security is the set of practices that prevent this and route hijacks.
What is Route Leaks and Route Security?
Measures include RPKI route origin validation, prefix filtering and the MANRS initiative. Remote triggered blackholing (RTBH) is a related technique in which a network signals, via BGP, that traffic to an attacked address should be dropped upstream, limiting a DDoS attack.
