Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP)

SCTP is a reliable, message-based transport protocol that is widely used to carry telecoms signalling.

What is Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP)?

SCTP is reliable like TCP, but it also supports several streams within one connection and "multi-homing" (several IP addresses per endpoint) for resilience. Interfaces such as NG, F1, E1 and Xn carry their application protocols over SCTP.
