Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN)

A virtual local area network is a logical network segment created within a physical Ethernet network, keeping traffic separate as if it were on its own network.

What is Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN)?

VLANs tag Ethernet frames (IEEE 802.1Q) so that switches can keep different groups of traffic apart. Wholesale fibre products such as VULA use VLANs to deliver each retail provider's traffic separately over shared infrastructure.
