AI System Provider

Under the EU AI Act, a provider is a person or organisation that develops an AI system or GPAI model, or has one developed, and places it on the market or puts it into service under its own name or trademark.

What is AI System Provider?

Providers carry the main obligations for high-risk systems and GPAI models. A deployer, distributor or importer can become a provider by rebranding a high-risk system, substantially modifying it or changing its intended purpose.

How it works

Providers must carry out conformity assessment, maintain documentation and monitor systems after release.
