Autonomous System (AS)
An autonomous system is a network, or group of networks, run by one organisation under a single routing policy and identified by a unique AS number.
What is Autonomous System (AS)?
AS numbers are allocated by regional internet registries such as RIPE NCC and are used in BGP to identify each network. ISPs, large enterprises, content providers and universities typically have their own AS.
