Conformity Assessment under the EU AI Act

Conformity assessment is the process of showing that a high-risk AI system meets the EU AI Act's requirements before it is placed on the market or put into service.

What is Conformity Assessment under the EU AI Act?

Most Annex III systems use internal control by the provider; some biometric systems and product-embedded AI require a notified body. Following harmonised standards gives a presumption of conformity.

How it works

The provider checks its quality management system and technical documentation, draws up an EU declaration of conformity and affixes CE marking.
