Embedding
An embedding is a list of numbers (a vector) that represents a word, image or other item so that items with similar meanings sit close together mathematically.
What is Embedding?
Embeddings let computers compare meaning: "car" and "automobile" have nearby embeddings. They power semantic search, recommendations, clustering and retrieval-augmented generation, and are produced by trained models.
How it works
An embedding model maps each input to a fixed-length vector; similarity is measured by distance or cosine similarity between vectors.
