Vector Database
A vector database stores embeddings and finds the items most similar to a query vector quickly, even among billions of entries.
What is Vector Database?
Vector databases are a key part of retrieval-augmented generation and semantic search, letting AI applications find relevant documents by meaning rather than exact keywords. Many conventional databases now offer vector search too.
How it works
Embeddings are indexed with approximate nearest-neighbour algorithms that trade a little accuracy for very fast similarity search.
