Multicast

Multicast is sending a single stream of data to many recipients at once, with the network copying it only where paths divide.

What is Multicast?

Unlike unicast, which sends a separate copy to each receiver, multicast saves capacity for services such as IPTV. Receivers join a multicast group, and routers replicate packets towards members.
