Internet Protocol (IP)
The Internet Protocol is the core protocol that addresses and routes packets of data across networks, including the internet.
What is Internet Protocol (IP)?
IP gives every connected device an address and defines how data is broken into packets and passed from network to network. Two versions are in use: IPv4, which has a limited number of addresses, and IPv6, which provides vastly more. Modern telecoms networks, including voice services, increasingly run entirely over IP.
