Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH)

The PRACH is the uplink channel a device uses to make first contact with a base station.

What is Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH)?

When a device wants to connect, or needs to regain synchronisation, it sends a short signal called a preamble on the PRACH. The base station replies with timing and resource information so the device can carry on connecting.
