A public warning system sends emergency alerts to mobile phones in a defined area.
What is Public Warning System (PWS)?
3GPP's PWS uses cell broadcast, which sends one message to every phone in selected cells without needing their numbers. The UK's Emergency Alerts service, launched in 2023, is an example of a cell broadcast public warning system.
