Ransom Pricing

Ransom pricing is where the owner of a unique asset or location, such as a strip of land that blocks access, demands a price that captures much of the value the buyer would gain.

What is Ransom Pricing?

It is often described as a demand for a share of the buyer's profits. In telecoms it arises when landowners can block network routes; wayleave and Electronic Communications Code rules aim to limit it.
