Remote ID

Remote ID is the ability of a drone in flight to broadcast identification and location information that can be received by others, often described as a digital licence plate.

What is Remote ID?

The FAA's Remote ID rule (Part 89) applies to most US drones since 2024. EU class-marked drones broadcast Remote ID, and the UK began phasing in Remote ID requirements from 1 January 2026, starting with class-marked drones and extending to many other camera drones.

How it works

The drone broadcasts its ID, position, altitude, speed and the pilot's or take-off location over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
