Remote Radio Head (RRH)

A remote radio head is a radio transceiver mounted near the antenna and linked to the baseband equipment by fibre.

What is Remote Radio Head (RRH)?

Putting the radio electronics next to the antenna, often up the mast, cuts the signal loss of long coaxial cable runs. RRHs connect to the baseband unit over fronthaul links. In 5G terminology the equivalent element is usually called the Radio Unit.
