Software-Defined Networking (SDN)

Software-defined networking separates the control of a network from the equipment that forwards traffic, so that the network can be programmed centrally by software.

What is Software-Defined Networking (SDN)?

An SDN controller decides how traffic should flow and instructs switches and routers through interfaces such as OpenFlow or NETCONF. This makes networks easier to automate. SDN is often combined with NFV.
