Superintelligence
Superintelligence is any intellect that greatly exceeds human cognitive performance in virtually all domains of interest, as defined by philosopher Nick Bostrom.
What is Superintelligence?
Bostrom distinguishes speed superintelligence (a human-like mind running much faster), collective superintelligence (many minds working together) and quality superintelligence (a fundamentally smarter mind). His 2014 book brought the risks into mainstream debate.
How it works
The concept covers AI, enhanced biological intelligence or networks, though AI is regarded as the most likely route.
