Intelligence Explosion
An intelligence explosion is a hypothetical rapid, runaway increase in AI capability that occurs once AI systems can improve their own design better than humans can.
What is Intelligence Explosion?
Mathematician I. J. Good argued in 1965 that an ultraintelligent machine could design even better machines, so the first one would be "the last invention that man need ever make". Whether returns to intelligence accelerate or diminish is debated.
How it works
Each improvement makes the AI better at producing further improvements, creating a feedback loop.
