System Prompt
A system prompt is a set of instructions given to a language model by the developer, usually hidden from the user, that sets its role, rules, tone and limits for a conversation.
What is System Prompt?
System prompts are used to make a general model behave as a specific assistant, for example a customer-service agent. Users sometimes try to extract or override them through prompt injection or jailbreaks.
How it works
The system prompt is placed at the start of the context and models are trained to give it higher priority than user messages.
