India's Anti-Drone Military System

India's indigenous Drone-Detect, Deter, and Destroy (D4) system, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has proven effective against Pakistani drone incursions. Amid escalating tensions, Pakistan has deployed numerous drones, including Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 and Akinci, to target Indian military and civilian infrastructure. The D4 system counters these threats using radar, radio frequency, and electro-optic sensors for detection, followed by soft-kill methods like jamming and GPS spoofing, or hard-kill with laser-based directed energy weapons. Available in vehicle-mounted and static versions, the D4 provides 360-degree coverage and has successfully neutralized most Pakistani drones, including swarms, preserving India's air defense resources. The system's deployment across all three Indian armed services underscores its role in thwarting aerial threats along the border.
