Deep Learning

Deep learning is a type of machine learning that uses neural networks with many layers to learn complex patterns directly from raw data such as images, sound and text.

What is Deep Learning?

Each layer of a deep network transforms its input into a slightly more abstract representation, so the network can discover useful features itself rather than relying on hand-crafted ones. Deep learning has driven most AI breakthroughs since around 2012, including modern image recognition, machine translation and large language models.

How it works

Networks are trained by backpropagation and gradient descent on large datasets, usually on GPUs or other accelerators that perform many calculations in parallel.
