Machine Learning
Machine learning is the branch of AI in which computers improve at a task by learning patterns from data instead of following hand-written rules.
What is Machine Learning?
In machine learning a developer chooses a model type and an objective, then lets an algorithm adjust the model using example data. The result can classify, predict, rank or generate outputs for inputs it has not seen before. Machine learning powers spam filters, recommendation engines, fraud detection, speech recognition and large language models.
How it works
Data is split into training, validation and test sets. The algorithm fits the model to the training data, the validation set is used to tune settings, and the test set gives an unbiased estimate of real-world performance.
