Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM)
A DSLAM is the network equipment that terminates many customers' DSL lines and combines their traffic onto a high-capacity link into the operator's network.
What is Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM)?
For ADSL the DSLAM sits in the local exchange. For FTTC it moves to the street cabinet so that copper runs are shorter. FTTP networks do not need a DSLAM, because the OLT does the equivalent job.
