Presentation Layer

The presentation layer, layer 6 of the OSI model, translates data into a form the application can use, covering formats, character encoding, compression and encryption.

What is Presentation Layer?

Examples of presentation-layer functions include converting between character sets, data formats such as JPEG or ASN.1, and encryption such as TLS (which is often also placed between layers 4 and 7).
