Single Family Unit (SFU)

A single family unit is a stand-alone home occupied by one household, used as a planning category in fibre network design.

What is Single Family Unit (SFU)?

Network designers treat SFUs differently from blocks of flats. Each SFU typically gets its own drop cable, an external termination box and a single-user ONT with a small number of ports.
