Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU)
A multiple dwelling unit is a building containing several separate homes, such as a block of flats, treated as a single planning unit in network design.
What is Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU)?
Wiring MDUs for fibre raises particular issues: access agreements with building owners (wayleaves), routes for cables inside the building, and whether to put splitters inside. Depending on size, an MDU may be served by an indoor FDT (very large buildings), an optical splitter box (roughly 16–128 homes) or an optical distribution box (lower density).
