Optical Splitter Box (OSB)
An optical splitter box is a wall-mounted enclosure, usually inside a block of flats, that holds optical splitters close to the customers they serve.
What is Optical Splitter Box (OSB)?
In high-density buildings, putting the splitters in the building rather than at the street cabinet saves fibre and simplifies connections. An indoor OSB typically suits buildings with between 16 and 128 dwellings and can hold one or two passive splitters (for example 2:32). Customers served from the OSB's splitter ports bypass the splitter in the FDT.
