Wholesale Broadband Access (WBA)

Wholesale broadband access is a wholesale product in which one operator supplies a complete broadband connection, including access, exchange equipment and backhaul, to another provider, which then sells it to retail customers.

What is Wholesale Broadband Access (WBA)?

A WBA product bundles the access line (LLU or VULA), the broadband equipment in the exchange or cabinet (the DSLAM), backhaul across the wholesale provider's network and the BRAS functions that manage customers' internet sessions. Buying WBA lets a provider offer broadband without investing in exchange equipment. The cost is less control over service features and greater reliance on the wholesale provider, so competition focuses on retail features.
